When I started the IC_Null channel the idea was to cover topics primarily about #cybersecurity, #hacking, #pentesting etc. from a #blind perspective. Blind as in #screenReader user, that is. But an overarching topic is showing off what jobs are (up to a point) doable for this demographic and where the obstacles are. Today's stream leans that way: we'll be looking at the premier #translation and #localization tool, Trados Studio. Supposedly they have upped their #accessibility as of late. I'll be the judge of that 💀
I'll see you all on #youtube and #twitch just under 1.5 hours from now. https://twitch.tvic_null youtube.com/@blindlyCoding #selfPromo #stream #trados

YouTubeBlindlyCodingProgramming, hacking, gaming, composing music. These are all things a fully blind person using a screen reader can do, given enough technical know-how. On this channel, I show you how it all works. Come stay a while :)

Localization of a TypeScript app? Meaning the texts the users see adapt to the language configured in the browser or otherwise picked? There are a lot of copious frameworks out there. But for small projects, an extremely simple **and** type-safe way is to just use a JavaScript object and use TypeScript typing to make sure a translation request in the code does not request something which cannot exist.

Localization is important to make Decentralization work and last.

Decentralization without Localization can be susceptible to Centralization.

Decentralization with Localization spreads out decision-making and power to groups (that could consistent of a single individual) with a personal stake in the outcome of the decision-making.

Which creates incentives that lead to greater resilience to Centralization.

DAPT enables scripting, voicing, and mixing for dubbing and audio descriptions, supporting video #localization and #accessibility.

These will work with any translation environment such as Trados Studio, Phrase or Wordfast capable of using regular expressions for Find & Replace. Also with other text processing programs that are regex-savvy.

compulsive localization of a random comic for children ("斗罗大陆"); mostly I just like the word "myriad" and want everyone to know it literally means ten thousand (the literal text is like "a soul beast of ten years, a soul beast of a hundred years...,")

TIL my halo is purple.

I noticed the German translation of Planify could use some improvements. Some of the text strings made no sense and were outright wrong about how the app works.

Then I noticed some peculiarities of some of the source text strings — lots of duplicates, differing in capitalization, weird phrasings, etc.

Went into the code to investigate in hopes of eliminating duplicates and learn the context in which they're used.

Let's just say this is me right now: youtube.com/watch?v=AbSehcT19u0
