my friend is thinking about joining Mastodon and/or the fediverse. Specifically, she is looking for the #spanish speaking #archeology community!
As we all know it is notoriously difficult to find a server that matches our preferences (language, region, interests, moderation policies...)
Aggregators like www.joinmastodon.org or #fedigarden rely on server #admins to register their instances (*cough I would not have found fedihum there)

I love #languagelearning. I studied #German and #Spanish as a kid, took #Japanese in uni, and I'm currently studying #ASL #Cree #Tokipona #Spanish and #Chinese. I also dabble in #French and #Latin sometimes and I'm learning #Greggshorthand to write faster. Cree is my favourite language and Spanish is my second.

I've been cursed since childhood with that lovely trifecta of #heds #pots and #mcas. Healing slowly but surely.

Hope I get to meet even more cool people the algorithms would normally drown out on other social media sites. I love it here!

Hey all, is "Trajimos botanas a la fiesta," something one would say? In Mexico?
Apparently there a multiple words for "snack" in Spanish. This example has me curious due to the lack of article. (No "las" ahead of the noun. I only know of this phenomenon in the structure, [Maria] es doctor, so I wonder if "trajimos botanas" is a typo.)

This was reported by the Spanish newspaper El Confidential and was based on information obtained from anonymous sources.According to the newspaper, AirFrance-KLM have offered to pay the money in cash to the Hidalgo family, who own most of the shares, in exchange for 51 percent of the shares. The airline also reportedly offered to take over the airline’s debt sheet with the Spanish government. AirFrance-KLM refused to comment on the story when asked by ANP.

What is the best platform to connect with others for virtual one-on-one language exchanges? I am looking for Mandarin, French, and Spanish in exchange for English.
