#LARB Radio Hour talks with #PankajMishra about his new book, "#TheWorldAfterGaza: A History”

"[H]ow the legacy of the Holocaust has shaped the contemporary world order, including how it has shaped the government of #Israel, and the current war in #Gaza. The book grapples with how, within the relentless violence of the 20th century, #trauma can lead to #nationalism, and also how one #genocide can lead to another."

I now have a total of 360 audiobooks in my library. :cat_happy: I'm feeling pretty great about that!

I love listening to books while I complete other tasks. It helps keep the 'mind noise' to a minimum. #ADHD It also reduces anxiety and helps keep me in the present. win/win.

I also enjoy listening to audiobooks at night while following along on my e-reader. It's immersive. I recommend trying it sometime. :)

Small irk: when a book is translated, and the new title does not match the original, thus making it harder to find the original, especially for lesser known or very regional writers.

Anyhow, my Search-Fu remains strong.

There's a very famous quote from a French movie that says: "Les cons ça ose tout. C'est même à ça qu'on les reconnaît."

In English: "Morons, they do anything they feel like doing. Actually that's how you spot them."

Republicans certainly fit the definition.

The Guardian · Rightwing groups across US push new bans to limit ‘obscene’ books in librariesBy Eric Berger

The new book from Lise Olsen traces a forensic anthropologist’s decades-long attempt to restore the identities of the victims of one of #Texas’ most prolific serial killers—and explores the shocking reasons why so many boys who were kidnapped, tortured, and killed by a murderer trolling #Houston neighborhoods in the early 1970s remained anonymous for so long.
