#CIA has worked 2 destabilize many gov's & nations in the past, using methods as mundane as #corruption & as drastic as #assassination, but former #spy chiefs say campaign aimed @ Canada would likely rely less on cloak-and-dagger tactics & more on #SocialMedia, such as the #Musk-owned #X platform

From Malpensa to Tel Aviv: Italian police use Israeli software to spy on anti-deportation activsts

„Police violence is about more than batons. It also manifests itself through interference and encroachment into private life. Police have always used an odious set of tools to achieve this. They follow people’s movements and observe and listen to their daily lives.

Today, however, access by police forces and governments to confidential, detailed and sensitive information can be much more pervasive than one might imagine. The spyware system Paragon, that has recently come to light, is one example of this. The services provided by the Israeli company Cellebrite are another, albeit different, example.

#Intelligence agencies treat commitments to foreign agents as sacrosanct, pledging to keep agents safe & shield their identities. Anything that jeopardized that would violate that trust, & could lead some #spy services to hold back information from the #US.

The #allies, including #Israel, #SaudiArabia & members of the so-called #FiveEyes spy #alliance of #democracies, are examining how to revise current protocols for sharing intelligence taking #Trump’s warm relations w/ #Russia into account.

Ah, Trump just paused all military aid to Ukraine, lifted sanctions on Russia, cancelled all cyber operations (offensive and defensive) against Russia, and fired a bunch of the Cyber team too. Oh and he took whatever classified documents he had back to Mar-A-Largo too.

And we still aren't openly saying he's a Russian asset yet?

Remember well that yesterday, a Russian so-called journalist 🕵️ gained entry to the Oval Office (while important agencies like Reuters and AP were excluded): reuters.com/world/russian-stat
