"Beyond the net-zero target – and interim emissions targets of up to a 30% emissions reduction by 2030 and up to 80% by 2040 – the 2023 negotiations left crucial elements undecided.

First, a measure to bring in an emissions pricing system that could both encourage ships to cut emissions and raise money for climate action.

The second measure is a global marine fuel standard that would gradually phase in low-carbon fuels for ships around the world."

Trump tells countries to ax talks on #shipping #CarbonTax, or else

"The debate at the MEPC is whether to tax shipping emissions through a fuel standard (a carbon credits trading scheme) or a universal levy (a flat-rate tax on emissions).

However, the U.S. opposes any carbon tax at all."

Both obvious war crimes.

Striking these cites cause a tremendous civilian deaths while also depriving the community of important resources.

These strikes are likely in response to threats from the Houthis' to resume the full force of their shipping blockade of Israel.

The world regulated sulfur in ship fuels − and the lightning stopped

Good that all but one crew is safe after this toxic tanker collision in the North Sea. The potential environmental damage is devastating.
Another question: what is a US flagged oil tanker carrying jet fuel for the US Air Force doing anchored off the East Yorkshire coast? Is this for the East Anglian US airbases?
