Seasons of Ranma: Exploring the "Ranma ½" Fanfiction of the 1990s: This week, we have an article by Adam Wescott that explores the history and legacy of the Ranma 1/2 fanfic community, the scene's exploration of topics like gender and character, and how it's evolved since the '90s.
Fic reading stats and fanwork recs for March 2025!
I read 16 books AND 871K words. How?
(By doing nothing else but reading, that's how. Writing? Don't know'em.)
I had to cut the pages at a printing shop because without a hydraulic guillotine, neatly cutting so much paper is just not possible. I've tried many methods but ended up with just uneven and ragged pages.
For binding, i chose the "perfect binding" technique with a softcover. It seems to be the easiest and least labour intensive. Binding the pages was actually easier than i thought.
I've designed the cover around a stunning artwork by Suzuka Youraku. Here is her pixiv page: https://www.pixiv.net/en/users/53055517
Full cover can be accessed here: https://drive.proton.me/urls/4ZWBW7ZHH8#vtkVwb3pFArN
In the end, I'm happy with the result. It cost me very little. In total the 400 pages book came at around maybe 5€ to make
(part 4 of my bookbinding project)
Before printing the book, I had to learn how to format text and design the pages. I opted for printing four pages per A4 sheet, which was not all that easy when printing about 400 pages which then need to be flipped and printed over again.
I'm using Scribus for the layouts. It's clunky and annoying but it's opensource and free. I've included the source file here: https://drive.proton.me/urls/4DQVGYRVY4#Ebv0cwcVX28p if anyone wants to try and print this book by themselves
(part 3 of my bookbinding project)
Okay, so for my first bookbinding project, i picked Ālea Iacta Est by risokura, with an intention to make it a gift for my friend, that recommended me this fanfic ^^
You can find the fic here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/54931585
Please be warned that this fic contains nsfw content
(part 2 of my bookbinding project)
Book crafting has been living in head non stop ever since i've read my first fanfiction novel. I just had to have certain works on my bookshelf and so i did This project began with scoring a second-hand inkjet printer for just 8€. The Epson stylus SX235W is old but it still works just fine. I have working ink cartridges for it too, so it is just a matter of refilling them with ink and resetting the chips, and i saw many offers on local marketplace where people sell old ink cartridges for pennies so the whole operation should be inexpensive at worse
(part 1 of my bookbinding project)
Hi, i'm ada
I'm a chaos incarnate who does a ton of #diy #electronics devices. Occasionally dipping into other hobbies like #bookbinding or #woodworking
You will see me mostly posting updates about my diy projects. Sometimes i may post about my other fixations like #vocaloid or #fanfiction (i'm a sucker for gay romance fanfiction and shipping fictional characters in general )
I just reviewed Big Name Fan by Ruthie Knox and Annie Mare
https://womenusingwords.wordpress.com/2025/03/25/big-name-fan/
Today I #AmWriting by going through old stories and making them work for Alana de Riva, because dammit I love that character.
And you know what? I'm actually quite pleased with some of them. I'm rather fond of this one, even with the purple prose in my description of Treviso.
Ah, what a nice grey, rainy afternoon to sit by the window with a hot drink and write a story where I fucking ruin Applejack's life

Death halted.
THERE WAS ONE, TEN YEARS AGO. HE TAUGHT ME A LOT ABOUT WHAT IT MEANS TO BE HUMAN
"To be where the rising ape meets the falling angel?"
AH. I HEAR YOU HAVE MET HIM TOO
