When Patrick Troughton arrived in the Tardis, some viewers decried that the show was dead. Decades later, he is considered one of the best Doctors ever. We’re experiencing the same stuff today. A large group of people don’t like the show anymore and cannot fathom that anyone else is still enjoying it. The biggest difference now is that there is an entire industry of reactionaries who rely on that warped POV to make a living. They fan the flames of dissent to get more views. It’s overwhelmingly stupid. If you don’t like the show, don’t watch it. Update on hand (muscle atrophy on left hand) The doctor has referred me on to get nerve conduction studies. It was my first time seeing this doctor and she was so awesome 🤩 we both have sons about the same age and we had a laugh about their naïveté in everyday situations 😆 I appreciated her a lot. #health #doctor

One more rant on my #doctor's office email/messaging system. This message was sent to me after a routine checkup. The subject line of this message was Important After Visit Message.

This is not an important message.

It is vapid corporate speak that means nothing, and fundamentally says "we're gonna send you a survey link."

Insert angry goose meme: "important to who motherfucker!?"

Redacted text of the "Important message" It says: Dear patient Thank you for choosing doctor's office name and allowing us the privilege of providing your care on date. We are your partners in good health and we want you to have an excellent patient experience each and every time you visit our office. You may receive a survey in your email or to your home address regarding your recent visit experience, and we would greatly appreciate your feedback, so we can continue to work toward our goal of providing exceptional care to our patients. We pride ourselves on open communication with our patients. To contact your provider or office through web site hover over the "Messaging" icon at the top of the screen and select "Ask a Question". From there you can message your provider's office or request a prescription refill. All messages back from the office will be located in your "Message Center" (under the "Messaging" icon). Please note: We check messages M - F from 8am - 4pm. For urgent matters, please call our office at phone. For purposes of "#secure communication", my #doctor's office has a web site that allows messaging. All I get by email is "hey, you have a message" and then I login and read it. Lots of places do this: banks, medical, government, etc. I sorta get it.

But on the other hand this web-based email interface is nowhere near as useful as, say, gmail or SOGo. I must go to each unread message, click it, click delete, over and over. No 'select all'. No 'mark all as read' or anything. So I see a screen like this, and I think: "welp, there's 70 mouse clicks I'm gonna have to do".

Note that one of them is "automated messages." They're things like appointment reminders. My doctor is pretty aggressive about reminding people about appointments. So they send multiple messages, even if you've already done their "eCheckin" thing. There's just no way to get out of these things.

And I feel like I need to keep this list clean, because if they send me something important, I want to be able to find it. I don't want 35 pointless, out-of-date messages clogging up my #medical patient portal.

Le sigh.

This is an appreciation post for my doctor. She's the best. (I have hypertension that so far has not really responded to any treatment. I've had it off and on since I was a teenager but these days it's more on than off.) I see her quite regularly and she just got back from maternity leave! It was nice to see her and she takes such great care of me that I feel like I needed to send that appreciation into the universe.

Watch who follows you (Under 'post&replies' you see their communication behaviour), report them to protect others, then block them.

The one I had, follows you and marks people's names in comments without any text. It's made to provoke a dialogue with you. Another sign: Photos are often bad quality. A quick check on Google images reverse search show often that they are stolen identities.

Are you a US #doctor wanting to move to Canada? This article gives some ideas of the steps involved. #Canada has a doctor (and nurse) shortage and doctors trained in the US have a much easier path to practice than doctors from many other countries (due to similarities in training, standards, etc.)
I believe fees mentioned in the article are in Canadian dollars.
