My mom did this before I stopped talking to her for unrelated reasons.

I view it as unnecessary, and purposeful. Most adults understand how to separate proselytizing from normal mention of background activity. E.g., "I was at church the other night" vs "I prayed for X and the Lord delivers!"

I'm supposed to believe that she really doesn't understand the difference? Or is it more likely that she doesn't respect my beliefs (lack thereof) and is micro aggressing?

Any questions about why I don't really want her around my kids?

I love my mom; I really do. But it's frustrating that she KNOWS I'm atheist, and yet persists in saying she's "praying for me" for any situation, or fits church into nearly every conversation. And most of the time it's in text embedded in a post that has other stuff I don't want to lose, so I can't simply delete it from my side.

Introduction

Doing an #introduction as I'm new to Friendica, which is quickly becoming one of my favorite ways to engage with the fediverse, and friendica.world. I'm always happy to meet people with similar interests, so feel free to boost / share!

I'm a human who loves weird art, all sorts of music (from Hindustani to Death Metal), tech, sunny days, green hills, incense, tea, spirits, soft couches, cats, and books. I'm a prolific vegan cook, and I design, code, write, play games, and produce, write, and play music for fun.

Hi this is NOT OK

House Joint Resolution (HJR) 3020 – introduced by Del. Henry Dillon, R-Wayne – calls for the Christian Bible to be formally recognized as the “inerrant foundational document for our society and government.”
The resolution describes the Bible as being “divinely inspired,” and calls for the inclusion of both the Old and New Testaments. The resolution further refers to the Bible as being “an accurate historical record of human and natural history, and the utmost authority for human moral behavior.”
Should the amendment be codified into the state’s constitution, the Bible would be given “a place of prominence and reverence in the public buildings, laws, policies, and schools of the state of West Virginia.”

This one is scaring me I just went and looked at the public comments and it looks like it’s a trap.

I’m glad I waited until the committee hearing to weigh in on this. It might be a trap.

An atheist organization publicly opposed it because the act they are referring to historically has been used against non-Christians and trans people to deny them insurance at work, which is interesting.

It’s sponsored by the only Libertarian Rep I respect & Rep Ellen Read, a total badass. I might go to this one in person. Except I have to be there the day before for the ranked choice voting committee meeting so I can testify in support, and that’s a lot. #NH #HB620 #1stAmendment #atheist
