"We should replace idealism with materialism and theism with atheism."
From the speech at the Meeting of Representatives of the Moscow Communist Party and the 1st Person Party (November 18th, 1957), Volume 7, Page 331 of "Mao Zedong's Collected Works"
Ukrainian SSR anti-religion anti-Christianity poster. The text says, "Women! Break the shackles of religion! Build Socialism!"
I don't want "spiritual equality." I want society to abandon spirituality and all forms of supernaturalism and religion because they promote believing in things without evidence, a mindset that hinders our ability to aquire knowledge about the real material world around us and make our lives better, so I'm not all that concerned about whether people use the words "God" or "Allah" as proper nouns or not. That's the least of my worries regarding religion.
If by "evidence" you mean "a story in the Bible (minus any extra biblical evidence)," then yes, very sketchy, especially when geology alone shows that the story of Noah's Ark is highly improbable with sedimentary layers, fossil records, and glacial cycles.
When it comes to religious beliefs, what religious people believe is just as much, or even more, of a problem as their insistence on others believing as they do. The beliefs themselves are the source of their behavior. If the beliefs aren't dealt with, then the behavior won't cease.
People who say, "I'm fine with people being religious so long as people keep their religious beliefs to themselves," don't seem to realize that it's impossible for anyone to keep their beliefs, religious or otherwise, to themselves. As long as we live in a society, within proximity of at least one other person, our personal beliefs will impact how we interact with the people around us. People can't "keep their beliefs to themselves." They always come out, one way or another.
