Stuff is happening...

My wife and I just watched this tonight. It’s a total banger. One of the best films I’ve seen in a while.

The two main characters are played SO well. The actors performed perfectly. Especially Emily Skeggs, who is an absolute joy. I laughed a lot.

Also, the opening design/typography are stellar. And the featured punk song, “Watermelon,” is rad.

There's this quirky independent comedy from 1995 called "Omaha" or "Omaha (The Movie)". I watched it again (first time since 1995) on the flight. It's goofy. It's low-budget. But there are genuinely funny bits in here. It's a proper film. And actually the acting is better than most monsterdon films we watch.

One of the funny gags is that it has a number of cameos by real politicians of the day. The Nebraska governor, the Mayor of Omaha, a Sherrif, the head of Nebraska Roads and Highways. And the final climactic scene takes place at Carhenge. Here's a clip of the Governor of Nebraska. You might be able to find the whole movie on the Internet Archive.
