What do you mean 'primary demographic'?
I confront almost daily people behaving like I'm a fifth class citizen.
From medical specialists to colleagues and even acknowledged 'progressive' folks; whenever facing me, many clearly behave as they are part of the 'primary demographic' group.
Such attitudes to me reflects some form of nazism.
While most of the rest often assume what I need, wish, think or feel without even asking me.
So even-though I know that there are probably one or two snitches or fascists in the building, I'm glad to be back home.

The nescient reaction of the MAGA hat-wearing attendees to the word “diversity”—mistaking a scientific discussion on neural firing patterns in the cochlea for a political agenda—exemplifies a dangerous blend of #ignorance and ideological rigidity. Their inability to differentiate between linguistic context and #partisan buzzwords not only disrupted legitimate research but also underscored the broader issue of anti-intellectualism undermining scientific progress.

Worse, researchers discovered their already earned funding was revoked, postdoc opportunities disappeared, and the conference felt like a #funeral for the field as careers crumbled in real time.

Meanwhile, the NIH was banned from attending due to a new administration-imposed blackout on communications and travel, delaying critical #research on #Cancer, #HeartDisease, and #Diabetes.

Welsh language scapegoated

Recently newspapers (including the Gruaniad and The Times) have been reporting that the power station in Wales was halted ‘because of the Welsh language’ - that is bollox. There is an excellent rebuttal in a letter to The Times (attached). I don’t expect any of the newspapers to pay any attention.

The company formally withdrew in September 2020. Yes, the UK Planning Inspectorate highlighted potential impacts on Welsh (and other factors) but concluded that mitigation measures were sufficient. Crucially, the final decision lay with the UK government, by which point Hitachi had already walked away. The real failure here is Westminster’s inability to back a well-planned, properly funded nuclear future for Ynys Môn. A project like Wylfa, done right, could bring secure, high-quality jobs and strengthen our Welsh-speaking communities. Protecting and promoting the Welsh language is essential for the cultural and economic future of our island, and it should be a core consideration — not a scapegoat for government failures.   • Completely disregarding that any #DM would be so overvalued that it'll destroy any #exports from #Germany as being unaffordable and the fact that leaving the EU would be 100% "economical suicide".
