We see social mobility throughout Austen and the Brontës' work, from low social order to rich heiresses. Austen was very keen on telling the story of social mobility during her lifetime because she also lived it.

I think all the authors were keenly aware of the class differences from different perspectives, and while they are decades apart in eras, they do nail (from what I know) the issues cleanly and with grace.

Bookcloth used is ivory wooqu. Endpapers are from the 1950s Flower gift paper book by The Pepin Press.

I have "Obstinate Headstrong Girl" tattooed on my right wrist. I identify with Elizabeth most of the time, and the quote seems to be too much of a truism to ignore.
