The dad of the house sparrow family nesting above my living room under the attic is always very attentive and watches me when I'm on the balcony. As soon as I'm inside he comes down for some food or water

A very "grey" photo. Visible is the corner of a grey roof gutter at the edge of my roof. The male sparrow with his light grey chest and neck, black eyes and beak sits on the edge of it eyeing me. Barely visible is the brown at the back his his head and his back. The background is filled completely with the dark grey roof tiles of the neighbour house.

Männlicher Spatz auf der Suche nach Nistmaterial. Er sitzt auf einer grauen Wegeinfassung, ein gestuftes Mäuerchen, mit Moos bedeckt, dahinter eine recht wilde Wiese. Wir sehen den Spatz von der linken Seite. Er hat sich einen langen, vertrockneten Stengel ausgesucht, an dem er zerrt und zubbelt. Das Auserkorene ist aber offensichtlich zu lang und zu widerwillig. Es gelingt ihm nicht, es aus dem Boden zu rupfen. Der Transport hätte sich auch schwierig gestaltet, vermute ich. Glücklicherweise gab es auch genügend Material in deutlich kleineren Formaten.

This Song Sparrow truly outdid itself by perching on a solitary pear tree branch in front of the dazzling fall foliage one early October morning. The meadow’s colors were simply breathtaking this fall, and I cherished every morning spent there.
