Ended the day back in Perugia, Umbria, Italy on 20 Oct 2024. Visited the nearby Cuparella Park and saw some flowers: a White Campion (Silene latifolia) and a Mallow (genus Malva). Also saw a magnificent sunset from a popular spot above the park: others were also there to get shots.

The park’s paths through the garden connect Via Pellini with Via della Cupa above, which can be reached via the steps along the walls. In this public green area it is possible to admire significant sections of the mighty Etruscan wall, built of travertine blocks and dating back to the 3rd century B.C. It is interesting to note that only in this precise point of the city does the medieval wall coincide with the Etruscan wall; you can tell them apart from the different size of the stones.
Nestled between the lower blocks is a small secondary passageway reserved for pedestrians, called a “postierla” [“back door”], and dating back to the Etruscan period. The Tuscan landscape architect Pietro Porcinai contributed to the realisation of the area in the 1950s. He organised the particularly steep, and hitherto impassable, space by creating terraces connected by easily accessible paths.

It drizzled last night in Perugia, Umbria, Italy. That, along with the cool weather, produced a wonderful foggy morning that filled the surrounding valley on 20 Oct 2024.
An evening look down Corso Vannucci, the main street in Perugia, Umbria, Italy, on 19 Oct 2024. Also visited the underground passageway under the Rocca Paolina, a Renaissance fortress built on top of the historic city centre.

Reached Perugia, the capital of Umbria, Italy, in the afternoon on 19 Oct 2024. A tour of the city includes Fontana Maggiore and the San Lorenzo Cathedral, which includes the Chapel of the Holy Ring.
