This was an eye-opening introduction to the history of Ferris State University. As a Michigander, I have only been to Big Rapids twice in my life, was never interested in FSU as a high school senior. But it appears they have some interesting history that more people should know about. Give this a read. I really liked it a lot and will make the journey to the Jim Crow Museum there sometime.

This was at the Mackinac Bridge at about 7:30 this morning. They closed the bridge due to falling ice shortly after we crossed. I-75 from St. Ignace down to about Grayling was wrecked- thousands of trees down. Didn't even get off the expressway because most places have no power.
I haven't been able to be online much this weekend. #Icestorms. Power outages. Cell service outages. Northern #Michigan looks like Armageddon backwash. 90% of my entire township was in the dark this morning. Yet with temps tonight forecasted to be around 15F, guess who's here with additional linemen crews?? #Canada. 
I am grateful. And ashamed. They are better neighbors than we are, despite everything.
