My first snake of 2025 is the eastern rat snake. I spotted it while walking through woods near a small pond last week.
For the first shot I wanted to capture a photo as it slid through the vegetation. The second capture is the obligatory forked tongue shot.
Long nosed snake Rhinocheilus lecontei
Only the second snake I've seen this spring and this one right in my yard! I think it's because I was watering some plants in that area.

#Herpetology friends, can someone suggest a good warming lamp for a cornsnake and for some leopard geckos? I've become a long-term caretaker of one snake and three geckos and my house is too cold for them and the owner didn't give me any lamps. If possible I need lamps under 100$ so I can fundraise for them. I'm worried about them.
