New #review today: "#EduardoPolonio was an important figure in the development of #ElectroacousticMusic in Spain. Beginning in 1984, in a career that spanned well over 40 years, he released ten recordings, including some collaborations, plus a half dozen compilations of his works, this double-LP compilation of his earliest #electroacoustic works from 1969 to 1981 being his latest." #ExposeOnline #ExperimentalMusic expose.org/index.php/articles/

This week's Other People's Music has a lot to offer, including a deep, mind-bending dive into Plunderphonic electronica as the final review of the batch.

I missed #MusiciansDay - so a day late here is my new release called "Painkiller".

The basics of this track were recorded from my hospital bed while recovering from major surgery. At the time I was on a cocktail of painkillers - hence the title. The track reflects my mental state at the time, coming in and out of consciousness.

There is one major theme that runs through the track - I couldn't get this out of my head - but it's fed through a variety of effects and distortion.

I had to do some mastering on the track as it was a bit of a sonic mess but hey what do you expect being high on painkillers?

What you hear is an OPZ providing the base track and Glo providing all the effects and distortion, recorded onto a Zoom H1 recorder - as I said all from the hospital bed.

I figured out automating the MP3 glitching I describe in this blog post! reillyspitzfaden.com/posts/202

It's extremely basic, but I almost never use Python, so I'm glad to find that it works. The code is on GitHub, and I'll be adding more as I refine it: github.com/reillypascal/mp3gli

Here's the glitched up MP3 I tested:

Greetings, everyone. Today’s Release Day for my new collection, The Orange Department.

stevenraysound.bandcamp.com/al

This 3-track album introduces a new approach for me. Instead of using traditional synthesizers to create sound (maybe even music!), the sounds on this release were made with test equipment, with a little shortwave radio here and there for extra spice.

So what is test equipment? It’s mainly gear intended for the calibration and testing of telecommunications and audio systems. It allows the user to measure various properties of sound, as well as modify that sound. Some devices can also generate audio.

Over the years, test equipment has been used by everyone from Karlheinz Stockhausen in the sixties to Hainbach today to make music.

I hope you enjoy The Orange Department!

Steven

a bit on long end but not too long i have ones that are like 10 min or more this isnt.
