The Galactic Center in Radio from MeerKAT

MeerKAT's radio image reveals the Milky Way's center, including Sgr A with its supermassive black hole. The vast 2-degree view details many celestial features, while JWST's inset probes star formation and magnetic fields. Optical telescopes can't see this due to dust.

#Jupiter and Ring in #Infrared from #Webb

Jupiter's rings, discovered by Voyager 1 in 1979, are formed by meteoroid impacts on small moons like Metis, ejecting dust into orbit. The James Webb Space #Telescope's infrared image captures these rings, Jupiter's clouds, the Great Red Spot, #moon Europa, and its shadow. Some features remain a mystery.

You know we love 1) Neptune (love them nep-toots) & Aurora, so this new image from #JWST is *perfection*

If you too love Neptune, check out our episode on the Nereids, where we explore some of Neptune's moons: starrytimepodcast.podbean.com/

If you love aurora, check out our episode on the science & lore of Earth's aurora: starrytimepodcast.podbean.com/

High-resolution near-infrared light captured by NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope shows extraordinary new detail and structure in Lynds 483 (L483). Two actively forming stars are responsible for the shimmering ejections of gas and dust that gleam in orange, blue, and purple in this representative color image.
