Feel like I really not updating a lot of my old project but today is the day I do!
finally updated my fork of imgs (A simple image sharing platform) imgp to support account, image management and API creation besides the original S3 storage modification
two days ago a #s3 bucket containing a SQL dump with data from #volkswagen #financial #services was deleted. I reported the bucket on the 9th of March, so it took them close to three weeks to fix it.
My mail with the responsible disclosure to #vw was never answered or acknowledged.
Plot twist: the issue was... elasticsearch.
Java was crashing when I was setting up the S3.
I raised a single VM on my laptop and it did work to send the snapshot to minio. Something caused a Java crash on cluster nodes.
So I rebooted each node in sequence, waiting for them to join the cluster before starting the reboot in the next one.
And problem solved.
Since last week trying to snapshot elastic search into minio.
Not sure whether the problem is elasticsearch or minio, which is hosted by cloud provider.
Tomorrow I will install local VM to try things further.
Garage - An open-source distributed object storage service
Does any of you know about this and also use it professionally and if so in what context and how? Honestly, I'm standing up a little.

It's a distributed object storage service #S3 tailored for self-hosting.
It runs on old PCs. It's build to be resilient with geographical redundancy.

Tonight I found a #s3 #bucket from down under upside down and open. It spills a lot of jucy customer data including names, addresses and email IDs.
The responsible disclosure was just sent to the company "owning" the data, but I guess this is the work of some sub contractor. I kindly asked for updates, otherwise I'll escalate that bucket to other agencies to make it go offline.

Success! Build a high performance scalable #AWS #S3 file uploader in #PHP using #ReactPHP for the next versions of the https://www.wyrimaps.net/wow/ map tiles. It only does error files for the CDN. So hitting it now will always show the same image, whatever URL you use. But next up are nearly half a million images. Step after that is to build a UI that lets me select the parts of the map to upload and ignore the rest.
Because I am making some use of #S3 #ObjectStorage for both file storage and smaller backups, I am looking for #FOSS #Android Apps that can not only sync/put files to S3, but also gather data from there.
Is there anything like that out there? On #FDroid I only found two apps that can put data on S3 in a backup-style fashion. But I have not found an application that can download from there.
