I wasn’t interested—and, for the most part, still am not—in the concept of a new Captain America, especially since we’re not getting a traditionally styled character taking up the mantle. That said, I’m glad that *Brave New World*, featuring Falcon wielding Captain America’s shield, is doing so well in theaters, albeit for justifiably petty reasons related to recent executive orders regarding DEI.

That being said, and acknowledging that I haven't seen the movie nor fully delved into Falcon’s enhancements, I find it difficult to reconcile the visual of the Red Hulk’s attempted strike being halted merely by Falcon’s upholding of the shield.

This is certainly not an invitation for well-meaning comic historians to chime in. I’m simply sharing what’s on my mind—something to revisit at a later point once I’ve actually seen the movie and can reassess whether my initial discomfort with the whole thing still holds.

(The Red Hulk is General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross)
