Today we are excited to announce #Jellyfin is pivoting away from new personal media streaming features and going all in with a new #AI #chatgpt program.

Introducing #JellyAI!

No longer will you need to discuss which Lord of the Rings edit is definitive with people. Chat with the JellyAI bot!

Stop telling your spouse 4 other movies that actor was in, tell it to the JellyAI bot and have it respond with wondered amazement at your movie knowledge instead of a sigh and a side eye.

Start playing Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter's Dead and JellyAI will popup on screen at random intervals to roast you for your movie choice.

In fact, point JellyAI to your movie library and have it roast your entire collection.

Purchase JellyAI today, and we'll throw in the #music component for free!

With the music component, JellyAI will listen to you sing along and point out every time you sing the wrong words.

It'll also tell you if the current band ever wore white belts in their band photos.

Buy today!

It burns my biscuits and scorches my gravy not having OTA reception.😡

I really miss having OTA TV reception. Where we have lived since 2019, we get zero channels. We probably wouldn't have bought this house and moved here had we known that.

There is no reasonable antenna that will pull reception, either.

My brother has fiber and I have been putting off building a box to stick #NextPVR, #JellyFin and my TV tuner cards in so I could stream OTA from his home two hours away and record TV again. There was a lot of sub channels, like movies, etc in our old region where he lives, which is technically ours, too.

🪼 Os melhores players para Jellyfin:

:xp_my_computer: Jellyfin Media Player
:xp_network_connections: jellyfin.org/downloads

:android: Findroid:

After years of insisting that all I need is the Kodi app and my NAS for watching movies and shows, I've decided to start playing with #Jellyfin.

What really sealed the deal is that there is a Jellyfin client On my sister's TV, and that I can re-broadcast my HD Homerun broadcast channels to all the devices.

The new setup will probably be:

NAS > Raspberry Pi > Jellyfin > TV

Ok, pergunta aos universitários: Precisei remontar o meu NAS, que também rodava meu jellyfin (pra tentar aproveitar um pouco a placa de video onboard pra fazer decodificação de vídeo). Antes utiliza o jellyfin instalado nativamente no debian. Estou pensando agora se é melhor manter dessa forma ou usar algum container (não sou lá muito fã de docker) para facilitar o backup e atualização do jellyfin. E aí, qual sua opinião?

Ok, a question for the experts: I had to re-do my NAS, that also runs my jellyfin instance. I was ruinning on the nas trying to get some advantage from the onboard intel gpu for video decoding on jellyfin). I used to have jellyfin native installed on debian. I'm thinking if it's best to have it as a container not a great fan of docker) in order to make it to backuo and maintain the jellyfin install.
So what would YOU do?

Continued thread

Right!

#JellyFin installed. Most of my media reorganised and indexed.

#Tailscale deleted. I can't be bothered running it 24/7 on my phone.

#Docker and #NGINX reverse proxy manager installed. Probably done that right. No idea if it'll survive a reboot.

#LetsEncrypt set up with Dynamic DNS. No SSL errors!

HD Streaming over 5G works - but will have to see how adaptive it is on shitty hotel WiFi.

Bit of a faff, but seems to be working. Next step is configuring a Fire Stick to work with it.

I don't use Plex anymore because it wasn't nearly as powerful as Jellyfin, but I do still have a lifetime Plex Pass so I think I'm still allowed to talk about it. :thonking:

Anyway yeah this is butts. :meowpout: I feel like Plex Pass made sense when they were continuing with development on cool new features, but now they seem to just be adding features nobody wants in order to drive up revenue while they let existing bugs and obvious feature requests languish.

If Plex works for you that's great, keep using it. But if you're on the fence, you should totally give Jellyfin a try. It's free, open-source, the admin tools are way more powerful, it supports more types of content, and the metadata scrapers are honestly a lot better and they'll trigger automatically on any filesystem changes. :party_dog:
