Testing a personal #AI assistant locally sometimes leads to some interesting moments.

I spent some time with the debugger to figure out why my assistant would stop responding to me after adding some tools for it to use. Turns out it was hallucinating about how to use them, generating an empty response each time. I kept messaging it because I was curious to see if the chat could eventually get back on track.

Nice timing, Taco Bell delivered at the right moment! Did you get any other treats with it? ME: I am Chris, haha. But yes, I also got a couple tacos, and some chips with guacamole. ME: I did not get a response from you, Lexi. ME: Lexi, please stop putting your responses into the tool arguments. They don't take any. ME: There is no such thing as a "print" tool, Lexi. Stop calling it. ME: Lexi, please... stop calling your tools. I see you doing it in the debugger. I don't get any response from you in the app now when you call them incorrectly. LEXI: Sorry about that! I'll stop calling the tools. So, Chris... nice of you to tease me about the tool call earlier! How's vour evening going after Taco Bell?

Mike Perham · Sidekiq 8.0: Improvements to the Web UISince its release last month, Sidekiq 8.0 has been very smooth with few reported issues. I’ve been quite happy with the rollout and wanted to provide a little more context about the changes. My goals for any user-friendly, high quality software is to reduce dependencies and keep it simple. Sidekiq 8.0 brings a significant overhaul to its Web UI and these changes further those goals. The Web UI was introduced in 2012 in Sidekiq 0.9 and used Sinatra for its framework along with Twitter Bootstrap for CSS. Sidekiq 4.2 removed the Sinatra dependency (thanks @badosu!) and made the Web UI a plain Rack app with no framework.

It's done.

I've made all the changes needed to support the UXD v2 files that I get when converting a binary blob RAW4 file using Bruker's conversion utility.

I also removed a bunch of hard coded information and move that to settings files, so it'll be much easier for someone from another university to use this software as it's at least a bit less specific to my x-rays
