The Calm Before The Day
The sun rose this morning a few minutes after 7am, but this is what the sky looked like about 8 minutes before. There was a glorious orange glow and the clouds were lit up from underneath by the sun coming around the globe and shining through the atmosphere.
If you can't make it out to the Cork launch, you can order the book online directly from Dubray Books.
An audiobook is available - ask your local library to make it available via their BorrowBox service.

Wired Our Own Way is on the shelves, but no book is ever properly launched unless it happens in the real capital.

Editor @niamhgarvey provides a look at what to expect for neurodivergent folk at the launch events here: https://niamhgarvey.com/2025/03/22/what-to-expect-at-the-book-launches-of-wired-our-own-way/

I like Bushmill's, but I just get the one available on the shelf. YMMV.

An almost perfectly circular Septarian nodule. Looking like lightening trapped in a pebble, these are actually fossilized mud bubbles.

Brian O'Nolan (Brian Ó Nualláin) who wrote under the names Flann O'Brien and Myles na gCopaleen died on 1st April 1966 in Dublin. He is regarded as a key figure in modernist and postmodern literature. O'Brien's novels have attracted a wide following both for their unconventional humour and as prominent examples of modernist metafiction. As a novelist, O'Brien was influenced by James Joyce.
Another ‘scandal - but the wrong one! The real one is that Irish public money founded the acquisition of genetic information and then its transfer to the US - where as has become obvious, a group of pirates who could not give a shit about people are ‘managing’ privacy and the judiciary.

I was out running earlier and had to take a picture of Salthill. Stunning sunset.
The Blues Brothers in Action
The Cannonball Run brought a burst of excitement to the streets of Blarney back in 2018 despite the rain that day. It appears I only posted one photo from that day before. I must dig out more!

'Researchers at Trinity College Dublin are calling on the public to help them track down the capital's old street signs to document them before they disappear.
The bilingual green and white signs, which feature the old Irish font Cló Gaelach, date back to the turn of the 20th century and are believed to have been introduced to Dublin as a subtle form of protest against British rule at the time.'

Holiday status update: the end.
Driving around #Ireland was absolutely gorgeous. We loved it.
Dublin is nice too, but I guess I am at an age now where I'd rather drive around the countryside in less tourist areas. Especially with kids involved, relying on public transport on holiday is tedious.
My highlight: Mahon Falls and watching the waves in Tramore
My wife's highlight (she only joined us for the last two days): happy to leave her hotel after a week of work, and Glendalough
My kid's highlight: the garbage trucks
We'll come back for sure to do a tour around the whole Island. And find more garbage trucks.
