NASA is keeping an eye on a strange anomaly in Earth's magnetic field: “a giant region of lower magnetic intensity in the skies above the planet, stretching out between South America and southwest Africa,” writes Peter Dockrill. While it doesn’t have much impact to life on this planet, NASA likens it to a kind of “pothole in space” that can create a headache for orbital spacecraft like the International Space Station.

U.S. astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams returned home after nine months aboard the International Space Station, with some of the health risks they faced well-documented and managed, while others remain a mystery. japantimes.co.jp/news/2025/03/ #worldnews #sciencehealth #nasa #space #astronauts #iss

I am not sure I would wish to hitch a ride home from the #ISS by that company.
