The arrest of #BadarSuri, #Trump’s #DHS claimed Suri was spreading“Hamas propaganda,”arrested & sent him to a Louisiana detention center. Suri is a LEGAL resident of Virginia married to a full US citizen of Palestinian heritage.

#BadarSuri has NO criminal record & has not been charged w/a crime, his petition says. His #detention & petition have not been previously reported.

Suri’s lawyer, Hassan Ahmad, argued in his petition that Suri is being punished because of the #Palestinian heritage of his wife — who is a #UScitizen — & because the govt *suspects* that he & his wife oppose US #ForeignPolicy toward #Israel.

The agents identified themselves as being w/ #DHS & told #BadarSuri the govt had revoked his #visa…
Suri…was put in #deportation proceedings under the same rarely used provision of #immigration #law that the govt invoked to deport #MahmoudKhalil, the #ColumbiaUniversity grad student & #GreenCard holder who led pro-#Palestinian protests on campus. That provision gives the secy of #State power to deport noncitizens if he determines their continued presence in the #US would threaten #ForeignPolicy.
