Ok, so I watched it, and my fears were unfounded. It's very good, and very much like a take on misogyny like Ken Loach has always been doing for social class.
It's good that they focus on exactly gender, not race, not money, just a big lack of self confidence that finds comfort in toxic masculinity. #Adolescence

Watched the final episode of the much-discussed Adolescence mini-series on Netflix. Very impressive, but not flawless, in my humble opinion…

I also thought the school kids were too smart and cheeky in their responses, and I thought the contrast between the behavior of the main character in the first episode and the third episode was too extreme, as if he had suddenly become possessed by a demon. But I was impressed by the emotional power of the final episode. All in all, a very laudable

I can't stop thinking about the pal at the pub last night who didn't like #Adolescence because it didn't explain why the kid did it.

She thought the third episode demonstrated that he was just a mentally ill psychopath and that's why he did it.

When I explained about redpill manosphere culture she didn't believe it was real and even if it was then it was surely tiny and not the massive cultural threat that would prompt such a TV show to be made.

I simply can't apprehend this.

I’m not even slightly surprised by #Adolescence - there are two kids on my street, younger than Jamie, who exhibit very similar attitudes and behaviours. Maybe the people who are shocked are living in some kind of bubble?
