boxd.itA ★★★★ review of The Sound of Music (1965)The sound of Music was released exactly 60 years ago today. No, that's not an April's fool. A good reason to give it some attention. Not meaning to say you have to watch it again for the 12th time. 11 times will do. Perhaps you get annoyed by it (perhaps it's broadcasted too many times), perhaps you still get enchanted by it. I guess I'm a bit in between. Some trivia you might not know about: - Julie Andrews sang "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" to the children in the cast to entertain them between shooting. Since Mary Poppins (1964) hadn't yet been released,

Happy 60th anniversary to 'The Sound of Music', starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer, an adaptation of the Rodgers & Hammerstein 1959 stage musical, which itself was based on the memoir 'The Story of the Trapp Family Singers' by Maria Augusta von Trapp. The film premiered on March 2, 1965.

A compilation of images from the film including the original poster, the iconic scene of Julie Andrews singing 'The Sound of Music', the entire family gathered together as Capt. Von Trapp is playing the guitar and singing 'Edelweiss', and the classic scene of Von Trapp tearing a Nazi flag in half.
