Photo published in 1940 showing then Governor General, Kobayashi Seizō, inspecting the factory of the Taiwan Cotton Company in Kagi (present-day Chiayi).

Kobayashi was the 17th Governor General of Taiwan, and the first military officer after a long series of civil officials to hold the office.

Photo published 1933 of the contruction of the Showa Bridge, the first ever bridge to join Itabashi and Manka across the Shinten River.

After the war, the bridge was renamed as the Guangfu Bridge, which remains the name of the current bridge in the same location, joining Banqiao with Wanhua.

What a wonderful photo - raw tea being unloaded at the riverside at Daitotei (present-day Dadaocheng in Taipei’s Datong District).

This would be around the location of the present-day Dadaocheng Wharf on the edge of the Tamsui River, and highlights Taipei’s traditional character as a trading port.
