Before GPUs ruled the world, a different kind of digital wizardry existed. Demoscene coders would push the limits of text-mode graphics to animate 3D tunnels, particle effects, and music sync. All using ASCII characters in a terminal. These demos ran on minimal hardware, often in just a few kilobytes. It wasn’t about photorealism, it was about creativity, constraint, and raw code skill. Some of these still hold up today, reminding us that flashy doesn’t always mean better.
