I replaced a 2nd car with an #xtracycle edgeRunner #eBikes a decade ago, can confirm, 1000 miles/yr by bike replaced 3k miles/yr by car. I am of the opinion that all #ebikes should come standard with a 1000W battery.

Last time I rode 40+ miles I was having to heavily ration my use of the pedal assist.

This time, I was able to ride with my usual mix of assist modes, and take several significant hilly regions without issue, or range anxiety.

Still, it would help if I were in better shape than potato.

I don't know why #officers from NSRAPT (Norfolk and Suffolk #Roads and Armed #Policing Team) stopped the #recumbent #tricycle - its perfectly legal to ride it on the roads, and one of a pair owned and regularly ridden by a middle aged man in #Ipswich. Perhaps they wanted to check it wasn't motorised, and this is a show of strength and warning to those with #ebikes that could be operating beyond the legal limits?

@Jon6705 an incredibly ill-informed opinion. There is more comes out of China in the e-bike sector than the cheap nasty ones.

The only eBikes being manufactured in the UK are folders, which is why these have not had the tax removed.

This move will make the route to market for some #ebikes less complex and so should, in theory, reduce end prices by more than the removed tariff.

There already regs in place to stop the dangerous stuff, they just need enforcement.

#Bicycles and #ebikes do NOT solve the problems created by society's reliance on motor vehicles, because the problems created by society's reliance on motor vehicles are all related to the distance and speed at which motor vehicles can travel, not what fuel they use.

Replacing cars with bikes doesn't work, unless you are already within cycling distance of everything. It's land policy reform that is the solution we need, in addition to banning cars.

We must bring homes and destinations closer.
