My teacher-wife is incredible. She devised an Easter Egg scavenger hunt around the house from the Easter Bunny loosely based around the show Amazing Race.
She had my kid run around the house getting clues from riddles inside colorful eggs before finally discovering her mega Easter basket filled with candies and crafts.
My kid was losing their mind with excitement.
These two drive me crazy most days but occasionally they’ll rock my world
A funny father/son moment.
In my journey with #homeassistant, I converted from a 4-year old docker installation to a VM running HAOS. I have been renaming devices and redoing touchscreens and dashboards. A few things aren’t quite right.
My college age (CS Major) son presses a button labeled “small lamp” and it lights up as active. But the lamp doesn’t come on. I say “Yeah. I renamed some devices. I think your mother’s sewing machine is turning on and off.” And he responds “I think that is the most Dad thing you’ve ever said.”
Then he makes a funny reference to The Castle ¹. He says “This home automation system is worth almost as much today as when we bought it.“ we had a laugh.
¹ It’s a hilarious and good natured Australian film. A bit of a sleeper hit or cult classic. at the beginning of the film, the house is a mess of DIY and eccentric choices. It’s at the end of a busy airport runway. And the narrator, a teen son who idolises his funny dad, narrates something along the lines of “Dad reckons the house is worth almost as much now as when he bought it.” A funny, low-key line you can miss if you’re not careful.
Did my 7y/o’s homework about the Three Little Pigs.
I better get an A!
Hey there! I’m a Software Engineer who loves understanding how everything works. Big fan of aviation, video games, guitar, books, movies, and growing in my Christian faith. Most importantly, I’m a husband and dad to two amazing daughters who are my whole world. Here to share, learn, and connect—with a mix of tech brains and fun vibes.
I find social media interaction a very tough nut to crack.
It's been incredibly difficult getting consistent interaction with my posts. I know people see my stuff, I'm getting views. I just can't get people to like or comment or share which is puzzling
It's all insignificant and is not a reflection of my work (LinkedIn) BUT it does have me up some nights wondering why some posts do well and others don't.
Maybe I need to show some skin... Is there a demand for bald depressed dads on Onlyfans?
Love when my 7y/o picks at fight with me at 7am.
I'm already miserable by the time I get to the office by 9am
Thanks for nothing kid!
Ran out of deodorant half-way through. So for your benefit, please approach me only from my left side.
Thank you
Pranked my office coworkers with this little gem this morning! First in-person April 1st in 4-5 years
$175 on a wheelbarrow
$230 on 1 cubic yard of top soil
I'm a graphic designer.
What the hell was I thinking buying a home?
"I don't kowtow to bullies." I say to my toddler telling me to move over on "her" bed.
Bruh... this morning was -6c (21F) with frost on my windshield and bone chilling gusts of wind.
This afternoon it's expected to be +11c (58F)
What do parents put their kids in when they leave for school in the morning?
my butt really hurts today for some reason.
I've been getting all these weird random body and face pains lately and I don't know why.
My 80y/o father-in-law is staying with us for a couple of days. Having him over is like having a 2nd kid under 10 in the house.
Between him and my 7y/o daughter, it's like a circus trying to keep them out of trouble. They are both so curious and yet both lack the appropriate physical / motor skills
Binge watching lawn care videos and hyping myself up for a spring full of yard work. *GRUNT* gonna buy my first CUBIC YARD of soil and some hand tools! *GRUNT*
Should also schedule a few deep tissue massages for my back... or maybe just a trip to the mall to use one of those fancy massage chairs.
I was irrationally ECSTATIC over filling up my gas tank today at 140¢/L instead of 148.2, 152.3 or 158.1! Like what a DEAL! LOL
(Sorry don't know how to convert that to American Freedom units)
I'm so jealous of all the videos I see of dads manicuring their lawns already.
I just want to get out there and rake and over-seed and fertilize my precious lawn. Make cute little lawn stripes and then judge my neighbors for their brown, weed-infested grass.
BUT I still have piles of snow on my lawn that haven't melted away yet!
Thirty lonely but beautiful actions you can take right now:
21. Research mutual aid efforts in your area. If there isn’t one near you, research how to start one. Start showing up for their meal drop offs or their trash pick-ups or whatever it is that they’re doing. Discover that it’s simpler and more fun than you imagined. When people ask you how you’re doing, say “I’m trying a new thing– I’m getting involved with ______ mutual aid, have you heard of it?”
22. If you’re a parent, send a letter to your kids school. Tell them thanks, and then ask how you can support them.

I should be working. But instead, I've fallen down the "Floor Register Deflectors" rabbit hole... Who knew there could be so many???...
