I've spent nearly 2 hours on hold with Paypal today trying to fully confirm our Society of Open Social Servers account!!

This is at least the 5th call in the past 3 months.
Probably the 10th person.

I ended today with them saying we are "manually approved" and it will be "verified" by the system in 24-48hrs.

I may burn something down if this is not resolved by Monday.

That said all donations are secure and we're healthy as a Society!! :+)

Our host is currently having an issue that may cause #socialbc to slow down or become unresponsive. So far I haven’t noticed any difference on my apps. You can follow @mastohost to stay updated.

Storage and Database use remains stable at 107GB and 4GB respectively. There have been no outages. Current cost is $CAD58/mo. We've received a few more donations.

We're still waiting to be listed at mastodonserver.ca and joinmastodon.org.

Users: We continue to get a new user every few days. Now 71 active users. 68 users joined in January and 18 so far this month. I'd love to see that active total over 100 for the first time before the end of the month!

Campaign: 2025 Launch Donations are at $1427 of $2500.

Subscriptions: We've added another subscriber! (Thank you!) We have 6 active covering 73% of our monthly hosting.

Host: Storage has stabilized at 76% usage after adding the relays in January.

This Spring, I'm organizing a covid safe, outdoors social picnic event for members of #SocialBC & anyone else interested in learning more about our instance on Mastodon/presence on the Fediverse. It will be at an accessible public location in/around #VictoriaBC / #Saanich areas - hopefully with a sheltered space, in case of rain. I'll announce more details at least a month prior to the event Aiming to do this in late April/early May.
