He issued an order mandating an overhaul of the org of his expansive dept -effectively centralizes control over the dept’s ops—putting: power to shape staffing/spending/priorities for the dep’s 1000s of duties into the hands of 1 office.

Indiv staffing & budgetary decisions at 11 diff bureaus—will be consolidated +transferring all of his auth to: asst sec.

Yes, the black rocks in the foreground are lava. These hills were built from one of the many eruptions in this area of the state. Some of the lava rocks are covered with lichens.

Four tall slender Ponderosa pine are featured against a blue sky of high, thin clouds. There are lower, juniper and piñon trees on either side of the pines. In the foreground fingers of a lava field is exposed with sere grasses; some of the lava has lichen growing on the rocks.

Along the Continental Divide Trail

I chose this photo for practice with the new version of Photoshop/ACR as I had not opened it before. I thought it came out moderately well and the natural vignette is nice.

I didn't take the time to ID the species, so feel free to tell me your thoughts.

A warm day today in the redwood forest. Trillium were prominent, with colors ranging from white to pink to purple. This is a close-up view of a white trillium in Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park. Egg-yolk yellow anthers can be seen in the center of the flower. The shadow of the trillium falls on its green leaves.

This is my first CR2 RAW photo processed entirely using RawTherapee and GIMP, versions 5 and 3, respectively on macOS.
Minimal processing as I'm just learning the apps. I still have been unsuccessful in connecting between the two apps to automatically pass the photo between so had to go RT>tiff>GIMP.

A small, short barrel shaped cactus with long spines displays a single multi-petalled carmine flower; it is growing in an ancient lava flow of blacks, browns, and a dash of red; there is a bit of lichen lower right.

Two Canada honker geese, big birds with black necks and heads but a white patch cross the head, swim in close to a furry little muskrat that is sitting in the shallows of a creek under an overhanging bush.

A mature beaver, the one we call Bighead Todd, waddles through green and brown marsh grass headed for the water of a creek. It's big, he might be a she because you can't tell without close examination, but dark brown and not un-handsome.

@elaterite It is BLM land so camping is permitted. I do recommend not being too close to the road to the gravel pit, however.

Here is an evening shot of my campsite.
