We've a cruise next year that starts from Lima so I've been checking the flight options. Landing on the day is doable but not advised for our stress levels. Arriving the day before comes in so late that we can't see anything in the city before we leave. Coming in the day before that then means flying on a Monday and if we're doing that then we might as well fly on the Saturday instead so we might get 2-3 days in Lima now, which will be nice.

RIP Mario Vargas Llosa. One of the greatest authors of the 20th century.
In addition to 50+ books, Llosa also wrote for decades on politics and free markets. He was branded as conservative and was in many ways, but also supported LGBTQ rights and reproductive freedoms.

A bunch of birds seen in Lima yesterday, walking around the Bosque El Olivar (more of a well used urban park than a forest) and Huaca Huallamarca. (I have penguin pictures from today!) #birds #Peru

An Amazilia hummingbird sits on a branch for a few minutes while it is not flying around getting nectar from flowers. This picture makes it look sort of brown with orange wings and a long thin beak.
