Waaaay back when, I used a free Z-Brush-like program (I can NOT remember the name of it, :oof: ) to sculpt this 3D model of Aster's head, so I could more make sense of how to draw it from different angles.

It helped a *bunch* when I went on to draw the first chapter. You can read that at sableandaster.com/

The only thing I'd change is I'd scooch her ear back a little farther; it's way too far forward, it's sitting on her cheekbone. x__x Whoops!

And the last one, for now… a sketch of Yuna from FFX, then coloured in Photoshop CS.

I remember drawing this while staying with my mum in 2013. I had brought my Macbook laptop and lugged my massive 12"x12" Wacom Intuos 2 tablet with me, which allowed me to do the digital colouring while I was there.

I've always really loved Yuna as a character, as well as her design. Such quiet strength.

Only a couple more to go… Here's Lulu from FFX.

The original drawing is only about four or five inches tall, so it's low on detail. It was around this time I started playing around in Corel Painter and discovered their scratchboard tool as an inking brush, which blew my mind. I inked this sketch for an excuse to play around with that brush; I loved the crisp black lines it gave me in comparison to inking in Photoshop at the time!

I've also shared the original .png of the lines themselves, if anyone wants to give colouring it a go. :) I always meant to colour it myself, but never got around to it. This was drawn in 2011.

(And yes, I *did* forget to draw the moogle toy's wings… let's just ignore that. :da_sweat: )

Ah, Penelo! :D I have a love/hate relationship with FFXII… okay, "hate" may be too strong a term. X) I found the art style and setting rather fascinating, and loved the characters, but I found the gameplay to be rather rambling/too distracting, and the gambit system difficult for me to get a hang of. I never got very far in my playthroughs. Still, loved Penelo, and drew this fanart of her when my S.O. did his own playthrough for the first time. I'm still really happy with how it turned out. :)

One day I'll beat this game! :da_w00t:

Next up was another drawing of my girl, Rikku, three years after the first one. You can see me getting better!

I really like how she looks so much more like a real teenager in this one. I always resented artwork that made her look too adult, or too "sexy". She was only 15 in the game, after all!

I remember I left her right arm blank because I couldn't find good reference of her weapons at the time. X) Drawn in 2007.

This next one might be a little unexpected, it's Lenne, from FFX-2.

I was fascinated by the game when it came out, but the gameplay didn't click with me well, and I found the difficulty curve tricky to deal with, so I never finished it. Really enjoyed the story, however, despite how they did my girl Rikku dirty with that outfit. X)

Lenne's tragic story was music to my teenage ears, so I made this fanart of her wandering the Far Plane. I titled it "Only a Memory".

Ink on paper and Photoshop 7, drawn in 2005.

Let's start with some of the *really* old stuff… Rinoa was the favourite of my best friend at the time, so she became the first FF character I drew.

Apologies for the quality… I drew this in a free copy of Photoshop 6 in 2003 when I was 15. X)

[Marked as sensitive because it's a little gnarly, and the face is a bit skeletal in retrospect… :oof: ]
