To understand the T**** Admin, #Republicans, and everything they are doing, one need only realize:
THEY. ARE. TRYING. TO. #PRIVATIZE. EVERYTHING.
(#Education, #HHS, #NIH, #FEMA, #NOAA...)
And if it costs those corporations money (like increasing wages), they block it. #ItsAllAboutTheBenjamins #DisasterPresidency #Privatization
Hmmm, #NOAA weather-photo-of-the-day is gone?
Toxic acid rain could be back due to Trump’s rollback policies. The scientist who discovered it warns of an imminent repeat of an environmental hazard.

Update. "US Weather Agency to Preserve Research Websites in Reversal"
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-04-04/us-weather-agency-to-preserve-research-websites-in-reversal
"The US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Agency [#NOAA] will preserve access to websites tied to its research division, after previously moving to cancel a cloud web services contract that supports many of its pages. Bloomberg News had reported earlier that the service contract for NOAA’s Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research — known as NOAA Research — had been set to terminate this week, jeopardizing access to most of the office’s public-facing websites. But in an emailed statement Friday, NOAA said that the sites will be preserved."
#doge #trump #noaa #rompantodo

Update on #NOAA #OAR from a Science journalist
An update on this story for @science.org: A NOAA source tells me that OAR just had a reprieve to find another cloud-services host and that this contract will not be killed at midnight.
Good news -- but indicative of the chaos that Commerce is putting NOAA through
Ending the contract would have made much bigger ripples than simply taking down a few OAR websites.
For example, it would have taken down the entire infrastructure stack for the Earth Prediction Innovation Center -- an effort pioneered by Neil Jacobs, Trump's NOAA nominee, in his previous term.
“US Weather Agency Websites Set to Vanish With Contract Cuts”
More bad news (spotted on Josh Marshal’s Bluesky feed). #NOAA #weather #doge https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-04-04/us-weather-agency-websites-to-vanish-under-planned-contract-cuts?accessToken=eyJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiIsInR5cCI6IkpXVCJ9.eyJzb3VyY2UiOiJTdWJzY3JpYmVyR2lmdGVkQXJ0aWNsZSIsImlhdCI6MTc0Mzc2OTY3NSwiZXhwIjoxNzQ0Mzc0NDc1LCJhcnRpY2xlSWQiOiJTVTVSUjNEV0xVNjgwMCIsImJjb25uZWN0SWQiOiJDODQyRERFMUM0RDI0OUVDQUQ5REU4NDhDQkZGNUNBOCJ9.KhuNHt0rx-q0VZLGRQ1omrvtoGxAQGWJBCpRXr8eY5c&leadSource=uverify%20wall @ai6yr

People who can help saving the data (URGENT!) pls look at the post above! And here https://forum.safeguar.de/t/noaa-all-services-specifically-amazon-web-servies-urgent/569
The early CXL of an Amazon Web Svcs contract means: a slew of NOAA websites are slated to go dark at midnight. This mainly would affect NOAA's research division, & will make numerous websites & data sets inaccessible to the public.
It's another example -admin: taking data offline across the govt.
The COMM Dept is requiring #NOAA -to cut its IT budget by 50% across the board.
There's a light at the end of the tunnel, but...

We (@SafeguardingResearch) need urgent help with archiving websites & datasets from NOAA, specifically the stuff on Amazon Web Services (AWS):

If you can contribute, please consider doing so.

NOAA operations are slowed by mandate for Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick to approve ALL contracts/contract extensions above $100,000. This nearly led to a significant deterioration of National Weather Service operations last night.
This is NOT efficiency.
