Gilead - envisioned by many misogynists around the world, implemented by the Taliban and emulated by the US who wish to extend their jihad.

The positive side of Trump's lunacy is that more attention might be paid to these bar stewards and controls on funding political activities outwith of the US restricted. They need to be.

“Dismissing the case without prejudice would create the unavoidable perception that the mayor’s freedom depends on his ability to carry out the #immigration enforcement priorities of the administration, & that he might be more beholden to the demands of the federal government than to the wishes of his own constituents,” the judge wrote.

“Everything here smacks of a bargain: dismissal of the indictment in exchange for immigration policy concessions,” Judge Ho wrote. He said he found it “disturbing” that public officials might get special treatment from prosecutors by complying w/ #Trump’s policy goals.

Judge Dale E. Ho’s order to dismiss the case “with prejudice” spares #EricAdams from having to govern in a way that pleases #Trump or potentially risk having the #Republican’s #DOJ revive the charges.

The judge said he wasn’t opining on the merits of the case, but that courts can’t force prosecutors to move forward. Still, he expressed qualms about the govt’s move, saying “there are many reasons to be troubled” by its reasoning.

A federal judge dismissed #NYC Mayor #EricAdams#corruption case on Wednesday, agreeing it was the only practical outcome while blasting the #DOJ’s “troubling” rationale for wanting the charges thrown out — namely so the Democrat could help #Trump’s #immigration crackdown.

The judge, though, denied prosecutors the option to refile the charges after the mayoral election.

It ordered them not to disclose any terms of the agreement in exchange for 1 month of #HealthInsurance & a monthly stipend paid for an unspecified period. Those who refuse to sign, the letter said, will lose all #benefits as of Monday.

The #Trump admin’s move this month to cut off hundreds of millions of dollars in support to #Columbia — which draws roughly a fifth of its operating revenues from Washington — represented a dire #threat to the university. The govt told Columbia it would consider restarting those grants & contracts only if the university agreed to a list of demands.

Last week, it fell to Dr. Armstrong to announce that Columbia had done so.

#ColumbiaUniversity changed its president on Friday evening, one week after the university bowed to a series of demands from the #Trump admin, which had moved to withhold $400M in essential federal funding.

The abrupt exit of Columbia’s interim president, Katrina Armstrong, made way for the university’s 3rd leader since Aug: Claire Shipman, the co-chair of the university’s board of trustees.

Lawyer Paul Clement argued on the #LawFirm #WilmerHale’s behalf that it was “clear as day” that the #Trump #ExecutiveOrder against the firm violated the #FirstAmendment. He said the chilling effect on the firm’s business had been immediate.

#DOJ lawyer Richard Lawson urged Judge Leon not to issue a temporary restraining order #TRO, arguing the specific limitations for Wilmer Hale had not been decided, so there was no reason to rush a court decision.
