It also does a variant of the "you play as a different civilization each age", which I think is a good way to not feel like you're gimped for 4000 years because America hasn't gotten its B52 bomber yet. I first saw this in #Humankind, but find it more intuitive here.

The negative so far is that it's AA, so the presentation is sometimes underwhelming, there's also occasionally weird rules I need to Google or experiment with to understand.
