Wolfgang Armbruster<p>Are you getting your hands on <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/TimelineApps" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TimelineApps</span></a> lately? Same here. And again and again I have to state that <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/reeder" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>reeder</span></a> is my app of choice in this field currently. This goes for the design and the functionality. I am struggling with the use of <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/surf" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>surf</span></a> and don't get very far. <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/tapestryapp" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>tapestryapp</span></a> looks quite nice, but I am unable to connect to any Bluesky account. Not even my own. <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/feeeed" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>feeeed</span></a> is free and has got some nice features, but I do not like the design very much. For me <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/reeder" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>reeder</span></a> is the most reliable app here.</p>
Ralph<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://gloria.social/@rizzi" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>rizzi</span></a></span> Great update. Thanks. </p><p><a href="https://nrw.social/tags/reeder" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>reeder</span></a></p>
Kim Mi<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://iconfactory.world/@Iconfactory" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>Iconfactory</span></a></span> Ah, okay. Thank you! Maybe the time the app keeps timelineitems causes the amount of storage used. In <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Reeder" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Reeder</span></a> the time can be selected. Does clearing cached data has any „impact“ to the app? <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@chockenberry" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>chockenberry</span></a></span></p>
davd<p>As a learning project, I implemented&nbsp;the Google Reader API from scratch in an <a href="https://social.davd.io/tags/elixir" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>elixir</span></a> app and did a write-up on the API details and caveats, in case anyone is interested. The implementation is tested in <a href="https://social.davd.io/tags/reeder" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>reeder</span></a> and <a href="https://social.davd.io/tags/newsflash" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>newsflash</span></a>. <a href="https://www.davd.io/posts/2025-02-05-reimplementing-google-reader-api-in-2025/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">davd.io/posts/2025-02-05-reimp</span><span class="invisible">lementing-google-reader-api-in-2025/</span></a> <a href="https://social.davd.io/tags/rss" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>rss</span></a> <a href="https://social.davd.io/tags/rssreader" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>rssreader</span></a></p>
Gauff 🇪🇺<p>It's been a while, but I'm really looking for a proper solution to follow my <a href="https://piaille.fr/tags/RSS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RSS</span></a> feeds, keep some of my favorites articles, and have a <a href="https://piaille.fr/tags/readlater" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>readlater</span></a> solution.</p><p>I'm a fan of <a href="https://piaille.fr/tags/reeder" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>reeder</span></a> but I honestly don't like the new layout... Reeder Classic is great but understandly has no "read later" or "keep article" feature.</p><p>Is there any consolidated solution for this, preferably <a href="https://piaille.fr/tags/opensource" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>opensource</span></a> (but ready to pay!)?</p><p>Or should I keep my Reeder Classic for RSS and take a separate solution for "read later" and some favourite articles?</p>
Jenkins<p>I really like the new <a href="https://goto.sour.red/tags/tapestry" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Tapestry</span></a> app by <span class="h-card"><a href="https://iconfactory.world/@Iconfactory" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>Iconfactory</span></a></span>, but the one thing really holding me back from making it my main RSS, blog, and social media consumption medium is the lack of a full text parser for RSS feeds.<br><br>I'm so used to being able to load up an entire article without leaving the app when using <a href="https://goto.sour.red/tags/reeder" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Reeder</span></a> and similar services that I just can't make the switch, even though <a href="https://goto.sour.red/tags/tapestry" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Tapestry</span></a> has a much better UI.<br><br>Not sure if full text RSS is something that the team is looking at implementing, but if it ever came I'm pretty sure I'd switch over in a heartbeat.</p>
Martin Dougiamas<p>I just switched my preferred <a href="https://openedtech.social/tags/RSS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RSS</span></a> reader on Apple devices from <a href="https://openedtech.social/tags/Reeder" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Reeder</span></a> to <a href="https://openedtech.social/tags/lire" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>lire</span></a></p>

Nyla Smokeyface :heart_ace:<p>I relapsed... I got back into <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/RSS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RSS</span></a> and spent several hours over my break going through unread feeds, unstarring articles in <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/Feedbin" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Feedbin</span></a>, and decluttering my feeds by unsubscribing to some I don't read</p><p>I can't help but feel like I wasted time doing that but I also feel like digitally decluttering is productive. After all, I apparently have 100,000 starred articles in <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/Feedbin" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Feedbin</span></a> :blobcatsweat: I think a lot of that was filters that cast too wide of a net that built up especially after I took a long break from RSS. </p><p>It also probably came from starring things that could easily have simply been bookmarked instead. I found out yesterday that I could unstar articles through the API. Maybe I can write a program to help mass unstar articles since neither Feedbin nor <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/Reeder" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Reeder</span></a> (classic) have multi select.</p><p>This was more of a ramble but if anyone has tips on helping me wrangle my RSS feeds and saved/read-later articles I would love to hear them!</p><p><a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/DigitalDecluttering" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DigitalDecluttering</span></a> <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/Productivity" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Productivity</span></a> <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/ReadLater" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ReadLater</span></a> <a href="https://tech.lgbt/tags/ADHD" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ADHD</span></a></p>
