Bill deWorde<p>Random retro gaming item I’d like to share with the class:</p><p>The amount of sheer, delightful randomness crammed into Parasol Stars is unlike anything I’ve ever seen. </p><p>The core mechanic is collecting bubbles on top of an umbrella which you can then throw at everything from anthropomorphic castanets to a woman throwing deadly dollar bills from the back of a unicorn-drawn slot machine carriage. </p><p>Sometimes you collect rings that make stars rain from the sky. Sometimes you create a “miracle” that turns enemies into giant strawberries. </p><p>Trust me, this barely scratches the surface of the smile-inducing surprises contained in this game. Parasol was originally released on PC Engine/TurboGrafx16 in 1991. It’s well worth tracking down. </p><p>Also, if anyone knows of other retro games that match the energy of Parasol Stars, please let me know. I’d love to play them. </p><p><a href="https://toot.garden/tags/parasolstars" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>parasolstars</span></a><br><a href="https://toot.garden/tags/bubblebobble" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>bubblebobble</span></a> <br><a href="https://toot.garden/tags/retrogaming" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>retrogaming</span></a> <br><a href="https://toot.garden/tags/pcengine" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>pcengine</span></a> <br><a href="https://toot.garden/tags/turbografx16" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>turbografx16</span></a></p>
