YouTube has pushed me to watch the latest #OKGo video for the last day or so now and I finally succumbed to algorithmic pressure. It's an astonishing piece of one-take choreography yet again. The song's decent enough too, but the song always seems like a secondary consideration for these things. Well worth a few minutes of your time.

Twenty years ago today I shot this clip of OK Go playing at the Annex in Madison. Their second album was still a few months away, and their first viral video a little further away than that, but they had adopted a fancy new look from the first time I saw them at Summerfest in 2002. Great set, and you could tell they really had something going.

This song is the only thing that’s given me a sense of comfort in these last few months.
They’re not trying to convince me that “everything will be okay” like a toxic positivity coach. They wish they could, but this is the best they can do.
Their honesty and dedication to their art gives me a little hope.
