AoiObscure Game 10 Last Blade is a fairly known and an amazing fighting game released for the OG Neo Geo. But did you know that it had a port for Neo Geo Pocket? The Last Blade Beyond the Destiny is an amazing fighting game. The movement and combat all feel so fluid. They truly capture what made The Last Blade great on a portable system. Pixel art for it is perfect. Of course one cannot expect the crispness of a Neo Geo however this port has its own graphical style which relies on fewer colors however the color palette is pleasing to the eyes. Porting games once considered an art. Now ports are becoming more and more of HD redressing of existing IPs. I believe what is so special here is that Neo Geo Pocket port is truly masterful, it stands its own while being respectful to source material. This game is remained this version I mean as hidden gem because unfortunately it did not sell well. But in this day and age it is easier for us to discover such hidden gems. Give this game a shot. AoiObscure Game(s) 6: Brave Story New Traveler is a turn based RPG developed by Game Republic and published by Sony for the PSP in 2006. It has solid combat, not so stretched out maps, amazing music and plot. I would say it is deceptively plot heavy for me, when I first played it. Also, it felt quite atmospheric too. PSP is a treasure trove when it comes to hidden gems, and this game definitely fits to the definition. Quality title that did not receive the recognition it deserved. I really like turn based RPGs, navigating throughout the not so stretched out open world and with a reasonable encounter rate the aforementioned genre can be quite therapeutic experience. That is how Brave Story felt for me. Immerse myself with the plot or just do some grinding. The game is not grind heavy by the way. Cast of characters are quite likeable, and they fit the worlds they inhabit quite effortlessly. Sadly this game is not currently available on any official capacity. It is a shame though it is an amazing one. AoiObscure Game(s) 5: Shockman is a Turbo Grafx-16 exclusive, developed by Winds. This game is inspired by Mega Man, that much is apparent when you boot the game. However, the game has its own vibes too. More than a Mega Man it feels like you are playing an episode of Kamen Rider. So this game is like beautiful fusion of Mega Man and Kamen Rider. The pixel graphics for this game is simply amazing. Turbo Grafx 16 always had shouldered some incredible pixel art. I think being inspired by such a classic works in the game’s favor. A good template in other words. This game definitely deserves your attention. Platforming is solid, blasting enemies feels great. I think cloning replicating games can be good when it is done by integrity, passion, and love, and that is what Shockman did. It is currently rereleased for modern consoles too!
