Previously, Jessica was at Twitter for four years, working in Developer Relations. She has spoken at conferences all over the globe, ranging from PyCon to Write the Docs.

In her spare time, she uses code and modular synthesizers to make music and audio-reactive video art.

Fascinating #keynote by Rob Koch at #KubeCon on real-time Sign Language interpretation.

He "talked" in sign language (American Sign Language, ASL), which was real-time translated to both speech and closed captioning. And also to British Sign Language, which uses entirely different gestures. Wow!

And of course, the topic.was on how to automatically recognize sign language. And the challenges involved.

Excellent #keynote by @gregkh at #KubeCon #CloudNativeCon on why we need #Rust in the #Linux kernel, including:

➡️ Standardize, "automate" error handling
➡️ Enforce lock acquisition, automate release
➡️ Type safety

As an important side-effect, switching from C to Rust requires you to ensure APIs fit the cleaner error handling/locking/type paradigms.

To ensure Linux stays secure and maintainers sane.
