Jan. 6 clemency, "flies in the face of the facts," retired federal judge John E. Jones III told @TheConversationUS's Jeff Inglis. "What I’m hearing from a number of incarcerated folks who say they expect to be pardoned or have their sentences commuted is that they don’t believe they’ve done anything wrong. Might those same individuals engage in similar behavior at another time, thinking that they can do that with impunity?" says Jones, who was appointed by President George W. Bush. "I think Trump is going to make these people into martyrs and heroes."
