The industrialist and the fisherman

The industrialist was horrified to find the fisherman lying beside his boat, smoking a pipe. - Why aren’t you fishing?, said the industrialist. - Because I have caught enough fish for the day. - Why don’t you catch some more? - What would I do with them? - Earn more money. Then you could have a motor fixed to your boat and go into deeper waters and catch more fish. That would bring you money to buy nylon nets, so more fish, more money. Soon you would have enough to buy two boats even a fleet of boats. Then you could be rich like me. - What would I do then? - Then you could sit back and enjoy life. - What do you think I’m doing now?

It seems pretty obvious now that these ads for jobs are literally just data mining so they can sell your data. They don’t have open jobs, they’re just capturing your likeness to use in perpetuity however they choose. You cannot sue for defamation even if they make a commercial out of your likeness talking about anal leakage.

I’m kind of curious about what they make you say in the “video screen”.

"What’s new, at least to the recent pandemic age of hybrid working, is the extent to which workers can now be tracked inside office buildings. Cracked Labs published a frankly terrifying 25-page case study report in November 2024 showing how systems of wireless networking, motion sensors, and Bluetooth beacons, whether intentionally or as a byproduct of their capabilities, can provide “behavioral monitoring and profiling” in office settings.

The project breaks the tech down into two categories: The first is technology that tracks desk presence and room occupancy, and the second monitors the indoor location, movement, and behavior of the people working inside the building."

@CrimethInc For a long time I thought I was just lazy for hating work, until I read The Abolition of Work by Bob Black and other anti-work essays. Now I know it isn't just me, work is no good for you or for society. As this quote (attributed to Arthur C. Clarke, although it might not be his) "The Goal of the Future Is Full Unemployment, So We Can Play" quoteinvestigator.com/2018/11/ #antiwork #totalUnemployment #anticapitalism #TheAbolitionOfWork #anarchism #play
