Today in Labor History April 19, 1943: The 50,000 Jews remaining in Warsaw began a desperate and heroic attempt to resist Nazi deportation to extermination camps. Their armed insurgency became known as the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. There had been over 3 million Jews living in Poland prior to the Nazi occupation. The Nazis rounded them up and forced them into crowded ghettos. The Warsaw ghetto had 250,000-300,000 Jews living in abominable conditions. Roughly this same number of Jews were slaughtered at the Treblinka concentration camp within the two months the Nazis started deporting them. The Jews managed to stockpile Molotov cocktails, hand grenades, military uniforms, and even a few pistols and some explosives. However, the resistance was crushed by the Nazis on May 16.

Jewish women and children forcibly removed from a bunker by Schutzstaffel (SS) units for deportation either to Majdanek or Treblinka extermination camps (1943). "Anna Magdalena Busl aus #Bonn vertritt den zur Zeit in #Köln inhaftierten Zaid. Ihm wird von der ungarischen Justiz vorgeworfen, sich 2023 in Budapest an Angriffen auf Neonazis beteiligt zu haben. Am sogenannten "Tag der Ehre" marschieren regelmäßig tausende Neonazis durch die Stadt um SS- und Wehrmachtssoldaten zu gedenken.

Während gegen alle deutschen Antifaschist:innen in Deutschland Ermittlungs- und Strafverfahren laufen und die aktuell inhaftierten Personen, nicht nach Ungarn ausgeliefert werden sollen, will die deutsche Justiz dies bei Zaid nicht so handhaben, obwohl er fest in Deutschland verwurzelt ist. Seine Anwältin spricht davon, dass hier mit zweierlei Maß gemessen werde.

Trotzdem er sich freiwillig der Justiz stellte, lehnte nunmehr das Kammergericht #Berlin es ab, den EU-Haftbefehl ausser Vollzug zu setzen."
