It's almost December. Where'd the year go?

But, an opportunity to post these again - as they were shot in a December. December of 2014, to be precise.

One of the best months to fly above Tokyo. Not as crazy cold as Jan or Feb can be. And the air is super clear.

Doors off. High above the city.

A vertical format photograph shot of me as we headed into the city in a chopper from Tokyo Heliport in Shin-kiba. Back in December of 2014. You can see me in the foreground, beside the frame of the helicopter's door. We'd had the doors removed from the chopper for the flight. Always the best way to go for an aerial shoot. Chilly but we were wrapped up warm. The empty area of land below is now the site of the new fish market, after it moved there - Toyosu - from Tsukiji. The entire area is, now, full of buildings. Above that, you see the Rainbow Bridge snaking through some tower mansions in Odaiba and over the bay in to Tokyo. Mount Fuji is in the very far distance, clothed in orange as the sun had just set.

We're above the Azabu-juban area of town, with the Tokyo Tower right in the middle of the frame below us. Looking almost due east, we see the Hamamatsucho, Tamachi and Shimbashi neighbourhoods below and away to the bay, Toyosu and beyond.

Yoyogi Park and Shinjuku Gyoen are visible on the left side of the frame. As is the NTT Docomo building. The skyscrapers of west Shinjuku are thronged near the middle of the photo, to their right is the neon district and the main road that leads over to Okubo. Mount Fuji is in the distance, the sky orange with the last of the setting sun. The city lights are on and dusk is descending.

The Tokyo Tower is right below us in the right centre of the frame. The large building to its left is the Prince Hotel and we can see the grounds of Zojoji Temple. Looking out towards the bay, we can se the Rainbow Bridge, to its right Shinagawa Futo and away south towards Kawasaki and Yokohama.
