Just wanted to share some thoughts on #RFC9715 - an #RFC that defines standards on reducing the #DNS issue of IP fragmentation over #UDP. It's not a long read, but a good one for everyone who understands the issues of large UDP responses on the #Internet. A great leap forward to (hopefully) reduce the reflection/amplification #DDoS potential of DNS.

Just today I learned that #Google will share their public DNS resolvers to limit to ~1400 bytes (smaller adjustments expected while figuring out the sweet spot in production). From now on, DNS responses which exceed this limit will have the truncated flag set instructing the client to resolve back to #TCP.

Do you know, that in #Windows OS you can test server reachability even when #ICMP is blocked using #PowerShell command Test-NetConnection (or tnc #shortcut)? #example "Test-NetConnection 1.1.1.1 -port 443" to perform SYN/ACK #TCP testing. Doesn't work for #UDP services unfortunately.

Establish a TCP connection between A and B.
Successfully send data from A to B.
Wait for 1 month.

Can A still send data to B using the same TCP connection? Why or why not?

The open container laws for weed in NH are applicable now, which is weird because I thought this was always a thing.

It’s nice to know that medical patients are exempt from this law but I’m really not sure why. It’s not unreasonable for me to throw my weed in the trunk before I drive somewhere with it if I have already opened it, but I do appreciate them saving us from an accidental crime.
