Timothy Shortell
More than 30 years ago I wrote my doctoral dissertation in social psychology on Archbishop Oscar Romero and the Salvadoran church. Romero was murdered by a death squad on this day in 1980. His sermons were broadcast by radio; at the time he was the only opposition voice that could be heard nationally. He spoke to the soldiers in a sermon shortly before he was murdered, telling them not to kill their brothers and sisters who protested the oligarchy. Seems relevant again. #SociologyOfReligion
