Marcel Waldvogel<p><a href="https://waldvogel.family/tags/PSA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>PSA</span></a>: The DNS resolvers of <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@quad9dns" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>quad9dns</span></a></span> seem to be unreachable, at least in Switzerland (tried via multiple ISPs).</p><p>Not only the 9.9.9.9 address, but also 149.112.112.112, 2620:fe::fe, and 2620:fe::9; even though the IPv6 addresses seem to respond sometimes.</p><p>So, if your network seems slow today, this might be the thing to change. E.g., temporarily switch back to your ISP's DNS resolvers. Or seize the opportunity and upgrade to your friendly local privacy association's DoT/DoH service.<br><a href="https://waldvogel.family/tags/Quad9" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Quad9</span></a> <a href="https://waldvogel.family/tags/Down" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Down</span></a></p>

Chances are, your internet service provider is undermining both.</p><p>Four critical things to take action on now:</p><p>1) Start using either <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/Brave" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Brave</span></a> browser or <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/UBlockOrigin" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>UBlockOrigin</span></a> <br><a href="https://www.pcmag.com/picks/best-ad-blockers" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">pcmag.com/picks/best-ad-blocke</span><span class="invisible">rs</span></a> </p><p>2) Switch your home internet router's DNS to use a service like <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/Quad9" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Quad9</span></a> <br><a href="https://www.quad9.net/news/blog" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="">quad9.net/news/blog</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p><p>3) Stop putting your real email address into forms. Start using an email forwarding service that lets you generate an address for each site and shut it off when that site becomes too spammy.<br><a href="https://www.pcmag.com/picks/the-best-temporary-email-services" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">pcmag.com/picks/the-best-tempo</span><span class="invisible">rary-email-services</span></a></p><p>4) Use a password manager like <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/Bitwarden" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Bitwarden</span></a>. And use its full functions...in browsers, on mobile, and more. </p><p>These steps alone will make your life a lot better.</p>
